HONK! Festival in Davis Square

HONK! Fest is that special time of year when activist street bands from near and far converge in the greater Boston area and bring musical mischief, mayhem and a touch of cacophonous whimsy to Seven Hills Park.  Profiles of past and currently participating bands, as well as a full schedule of the weekend’s events, can be found here.

Potluck in the Park with Mayor Joe Curtatone

12 – 2 p.m.

Residents of Somerville are encouraged to come meet their Mayor and mingle with neighbors at Hodgkins-Curtin Park for a “Potluck in the Park.”  Attendees are encouraged to bring refreshments to Hodgkins Par, which is located between Simpson Avenue and Paulina Street on Holland Street.  There is no rain date.

Harvest Fest at Arts at the Armory

1-6 p.m.

This annual benefit for Somerville Local First features, in their words, “all things cool and local: beer, wine, music, art, fashion and food.”

Tickets are $20, available here, but according to SLF’s site tickets will be available for $10 without a food card.

Sunday, Oct. 10

12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

HONK! Fest participants will parade from Davis to Harvard Squares; they are slated to set out from Somerville at noon and arrive amidst Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest celebration at 1:00 p.m.  Bread & Puppet Theater will be teaming up with the HONK! performers to “Reclaim the Streets for Horns, Bikes, and Feet.”  Rain date Monday, October 11.
