Friday, Feb. 4

“It’s A Strange World” at the Brickbottom Artists Association

12 – 5 p.m.

“It’s A Strange World” features works created in a variety of media by 10 members of the BAA community. The exhibition will be on view until Feb. 26.

Public Skating Hours at Veterans Memorial Rink

6 – 7:50 p.m.

Go have some winter fun at the Veterans Memorial Rink.  You know, because you’re not sick of being outside in the cold or of trying to not fall down on ice.

Saturday, Feb. 5

Winter Farmers Market at the Center for the Arts at the Armory

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

The Armory is hosting a Winter Farmers Market to help the good people of the ‘Ville access healthy produce and other high quality, locally sourced food.  Locals have been thronging to pick up everything from root vegetables to stewing meat to dairy-free baked goods, so hop to it, as the there are only a few weeks left of the indoor market.  Bring cash, or be prepared to swipe your plastic to get some currency in the form of poker chips.

Letterpress Workshop at Union Press

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Union Press is holding a letterpress printing workshop this weekend.  Letterpress whiz kids Eli and Kyle will teach you how to set wood and lead type; you will be able to leave the workshop with an armload of posters and personal stationery that you yourself will have created.  If you’re already committed to spending your Saturday marveling at watermelon radishes, there is a session on Thursday, Feb. 3, from 6 – 10 p.m.  The workshop costs $85, and there are only a handful of spots.  E-mail up@unionpressprints.com

“The History of Somerville, 2010 – 2100” at the Nave Gallery

1 – 9 p.m.

The Nave Gallery is hosting this interesting community art project, which explores the different possible futures of the ‘Ville.  Organized by Tim Devin, the project reflects the opinions, hopes and hypotheses of current and former Somerville residents.  The opening reception is at 6 p.m.
