 Friday, Jan. 28 

“It’s A Strange  World” at the Brickbottom Gallery 

12 – 5 p.m. 

The Brickbottom Artists Association, one of the longest-running and most successful artist associations in the U.S., has a new exhibition opening in its gallery this week.  “It’s A Strange World” features works created in a variety of media by 10 members of the BAA community. The exhibition will be on view until Feb. 26.  An opening reception will be held on Sunday.

Anthology CD Release Party at Third Life Studio 

8 p.m. 

Local vocal quartet Anthology will be hosting the CD release party for their debut album at Third Life Studio. The party will be a celebration of Anthology’s accomplishment, as well as a free concert of their work for party-goers. All are welcome; admission is free. Light refreshments will be served. 

Union Square Round Table at PA’s Lounge 

9:30 p.m. 

Union Square Round Table will once again be bringing their comedic stylings to PA’s Lounge. This month’s show, entitled “Don’t Call it a Comeback,” will feature stand-up comedy and musical performances by Hands & Knees and Cotton Candy.  There may or may not also be a scholarly lecture on the philosophy of the Insane Clown Posse and their Juggalos. 

Saturday, Jan. 29 

Breaking Bagels with the Bards at Au Bon Pain, Davis Square 

9 a.m. – 12 p.m. 

The Bagel Bards meet at the Au Bon Pain in Davis Square every Saturday morning.  Join this community of writers for breakfast and networking, but definitely not workshopping your unfinished poems, you amateur. 

Winter Farmers Market at the Center for Arts at the Armory 

10 a.m. – 2 p.m. 

The Armory will once again be bringing bountiful foodie goodness to the masses with its weekly Winter Farmers Market. Come early, as the varying vendors’ wares have been going like hotcakes.  This week’s special guest vendor is 3 Little Figs, a Jmaica Plain-based, all-natural baking company.  EBT, credit cards and cash are accepted.

Sunday, Jan. 30 

“Clean Out the Bookshelf: A Cookbook Swap”at Green City Growers 

1 – 4 p.m. 

Green City Growers and Slow Food Boston will be hosting a cookbook swap. With a motto of “Farm Fresh Food Right From Your Yard,” it should be safe to assume that there will be some awesome cookbook and recipe swapping to be had.   Tickets are $5. 

The Somerville Museum Presents: “Duo Maresienne & Special Guests” at The Somerville Museum 

3 p.m. 

The Somerville Museum will be hosting another installment of its early afternoon music series. This Sunday will focus on the consort songs, Lachrimae, and lute solos of John Dowland. Admission is $17 for adults; $12 for students, seniors and museum members.

Come mingle with the artists of the Brickbottom Artists Association while pondering their works.
