The Veterans Memorial Rink offers free public skating daily between January and March. Information concerning parking, hours, and special events may all be found on their website.
Julie Dahlstrom: Streetscapes of Latin America at Bloc 11 Cafe
6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Bloc 11 Cafe will be hosting Julie Dahlstrom‘s photography exhibit “Streetscapes of Latin America.” All proceeds from sales at Bloc 11 will benefit the Anti-Trafficking Program at Lutheran Social Services of New England. Free admission.
Saturday, Jan. 8
Winter Farmers Market at the Center for Arts at the Armory
10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
This Saturday will mark the first of what will be a weekly indoor farmers’ market at the Center for Arts at the Armory. An initiative of Shape Up Somerville, the WFM is intended to increase local residents’ access to high-quality, healthy, local food products this winter. A wide variety of items, ranging from meat to bread to produce and other specialty items, will be available for purchase. A full list of participating vendors can be found here.

No Pants Subway Ride Boston 2011 on the T
2 p.m.
Not even the ‘Ville can contain this event within its noble city limits: The Boston Society of Spontaneity proudly presents its fourth annual No Pants Subway Ride flash mob. If you would like to participate in the NPSRB11, congregate at the Alewife MBTA stop by 2 p.m. Organizers will be assigning participants to teams in order to help organize the chaos. Instructions regarding registration and dress code may be found here.

Not to sound like a dick, but that ride with no pants does not seem very spontaneous.
The only thing that could make that subway ride worse is a “spontaneous” chorus of “pants on the ground”
