Deathwish Circus

Davis Square, 6 p.m.

Via the ever-useful Davis Square Livejournal, we learned of a message on the Somerville Arts Council Yahoo group of a circus performance by the Internationally Famous Flaming Deathwish Itinerant Family Circus and Fantastic Non-Stick Antiperspirant Russian Nonsemble.

The former claims to have a group of trained fleas. The latter’s leader is purportedly a bespectacled polar bear named Fluffsky. If any of this is true, it will probably be cool. We did see a black truck with “Deathwish” emblazoned across the top cruising on Route 16 on Saturday.

Reception for “Fred Lund: Public Artist” at the Somerville Armory

5:30-7:30 p.m.

Fred Lund, who has worked for City Hall as draftsman since 1953, has amassed a portfolio ranging from posters and maps to the city’s seal. His work will be collected for the first time through Arts at the Armory in an exhibit that will run through Sept. 28. A press release from the Mayor’s Office calls him “perhaps the most seen, but under-recognized artists in city history.”

Much apologies dear poster and reader, the circus was moved to tuesday but I don’t think anyone got the message on time! Same place, 6pm.
