Trane fails to file

The City of Somerville has placed the most recent campaign finance reports for elected officials and candidates on its website for the first time.

The 2010 reports, which can be found as PDFs on the city’s Elections Department page here, are available for all but one member of the Board of Aldermen and former candidates. Reports for School Committee members and candidates are also available.

Some of the reports have yet to be filed, which Elections Chairman Nicholas Salerno said would be one of his priorities.

“I’m going to start setting up a program to track them down,” Salerno said. “I’m going to try to get everyone up to date.”

Ward 7 Alderman Bob Trane is the only elected official who did not submit a 2010 report, making it the second he is known to have not filed.

Five former aldermen and School Committee challengers also did not turn in reports, which were due Jan. 20.

Trane has not responded to requests for comment.

Among the campaigns not active but still sitting on funds is current U.S. Rep. Michael Capuano, a former Somerville mayor. His committee still holds $147,000.

Current Mayor Joseph Curtatone’s report is available on the city’s site and on the state’s Office of Campaign Political Finance website in a searchable format. Curtatone’s 2009 fillings are available in searchable formats here.

Reports for the Board of Aldermen for 2009 remain available through MuckRock.
